Nearly 400 Army Personnel Actively Contribute to ‘Dengue’ Prevention
The island-wide Dengue prevention programme, launched by the Ministry of Health in close coordination with tri services, Police, Civil Security Department personnel, provincial level health workers, state agencies, community-oriented voluntary organizations, is now fully operational with the backing of nearly 400 Army personnel on a daily basis.
Responding to a request of the Ministry of Health, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army, instructed island-wide Army formations to cooperate with Medical Officers of Health (MOH) in respective areas for deployment of troops for this community project as the number of Dengue patients has been on the increase.
During June 4-6, Army personnel in Jaffna (73), Batticaloa (55), Kurunegala (97), Ratnapura (40), Puttalam (15), Colombo (60), Dehiwala - Mount Lavinia (45) and a few other areas, are actively participating in those preventive programmes.
