WEST TROOPS SWIFTLY RUSH TO ASSIST FIREFIGHTERS TO DOUSE MAJOR FIRE IN KAJJIMAWATTE, THOTALANGA

Army troops on the directions of the Commander of the Army this evening (27) hurried to assist control the major fire that erupted at Kajjimawatte where a line of houses at Thotalanga, Colombo 15 have caught fire.

Hundreds of 7 Gemunu Watch troops under command to the 142 Brigade of the 14 Division of the Security Force HQ-West immediately joined the firefighters of the Fire Brigade who have been engaged in control work.

142 Brigade closely monitors the situation and coordinates with the troops assisting the control work.

Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army on being informed of the emergency requirement quickly instructed the 142 Brigade Commander and SF West Commander to deploy troops to assist the control of the fire which has reportedly caused heavy damage.
