Responding to a request made by the Divisional Secretariat office Attanagalla, a contingent of Army personnel belongs to 6 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery of 141 Infantry Brigade lent their assistance on the instructions of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division Major General J M R N K Jayamanna RWP, by providing manpower to remove a blockage of draining water that caused by long term entrapment of tree branches, leaves and soil in Mangalathiriya area above the dam of Attanagalu Oya during 06 and 07 February 2023.
Meanwhile, apart from the Army troops, officials of the Disaster Management Centre and the Irrigation Department and Sri Lanka Navy personnel also contributed to this removal process.
One officer and 30 Other Ranks of 6 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery engaged in this project under the close supervision of the Commander 141 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier L G B Kariyawasam RWP RSP USP and the Commanding Officer of 6 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery.
