On Sunday afternoon, 27 February 2022, as per the direction of the Commander, Security Forces (West), Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division and the troops of 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under command to the 611 Infantry Brigade, rushed to mitigate a fast-spreading wildfire in the general area Diyagama, Kegalle.
The 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment rushed two officers and 28 other ranks to the scene to aid the expeditious assistance to douse the fire.
Further, it has been revealed that the burned land belongs to a businessman and as same as a small portion of the land’s edge belongs to Buddhist monks of Asgiriya chapter.
