The act of giving is a noble gesture that has the power to transform lives and create a positive impact on society. Such was the case on 25 July 2023, when a generous sponsorship by SDB Bank, North West Province, SDB Bank, Wariyapola, SDB Bank, Kuliyapitiya, and New Pharmacy, Kurunegala, coordinated by the 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and 1 Sri Lanka National Guard, resulted in a significant donation of school accessories to 13 underprivileged students at Siyabalawa Primary School and 24 Students at Gallegoda Primary School in the 143 Brigade area in Kurunegala District.
This heartwarming initiative was made possible through the efforts of the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, who directed the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard of the 143 Infantry Brigade to initiate the programme including finding beneficiaries. Recognizing the importance of education and the need to support underprivileged students, this collaboration aimed to provide these children with the necessary tools for their academic journey.
The donation of school accessories, which included school bags, books, stationery, and other essential materials, was worth around Rs. 150,000.00. The distribution ceremony took place at the respective school premises and was attended by Officers and Other Ranks of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard and the respective school Staff. Further, this noble initiative was arranged as per the directions of the commander, Security Forces (West).
