With the proper coordination of the 143 Infantry Brigade and 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment of Security Forces (West), as well as sponsorship rendered by Mrs. Udyani Munasinghe and her supporters in collaboration with Major General (Retired) T D Weerakoon RWP RSP VSV USP, another community project was organized to give away relief packs of nutrients, clothes and necessary baby items for 50 needy pregnant women and at the same time stock of school accessories for needy children residing in Karuwalagaswewa area after inviting them to Tabbowa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya on 22 April 2023.
The total cost of this noble community project was around Rs. 500,000.00 and prior to the project, all the arrangements and beneficiaries had been properly organized by the Army personnel, as per the directions of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP and following guidance given by the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division, Major General J M R N K Jayamanna RWP, along with the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T M F Kitchilan RWP RSP.
By the way, with the culminating of the day’s event, Army personnel arranged to provide a delicious lunch for the participants at the same venue. The event was attended by the Commanding Officer of 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment, Officers, Other Ranks and sponsors.
