As per the directions of the Commander Security Forces (West), the Army personnel of the 3 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch under 613 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) have once again demonstrated their commitment to serving the community by providing labour assistance for minor repair work at the Nilwala Kanishta Vidyalaya, Matara, on the 20 and 21 of July 2023.
One Officer and ten Other Ranks, took on the task of painting the discoloured three-story building and replacing the loose Asbestos sheets at the request of the Principal of the School. Similarly, this community project was totally monitored by the Commanding officer of 3 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch with the guidelines of the Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade.
Further, the collaboration between the army and the local community, as seen in this project, fosters a sense of unity and mutual respect. The soldiers' willingness to lend a helping hand in times of need strengthens the bond between the military and the civilian population.
