As a result of the prevailing adverse weather condition in the Security Forces (West) Area of Responsibility, the public has been in distress due to contamination of the well water in the Kavisigamuwa Grama Niladari Division under Ridigama Divisional Secretariat and Ibbagamuwa Divisional Secretariat area of Kurunegala District.
As soon as the news reported, on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces (West), a Contingent of Army personnel belongs to 1 Sri Lanka National Guard under 143 Infantry Brigade of 14 Infantry Division have been dispatched with immediate effect to clean the polluted wells with the assistance of the residents in the area on 27 and 29 December 2022 respectively.
