Upon the assistance requested by the Yatiyantota police station to evacuate an unknown dead body stuck in a stone hole, a group of Army personnel along with the Commanding Officer of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under 611 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) has been dispatched to evacuate the dead body that has been stuck in a stone hole about 10 feet from the surface of the ground in the General area Denankawa watta, Peragas junction, Yatiyantota at around afternoon hours on 24 January 2023.
This evacuation process was conducted as per the instructions given by the Commander Security Forces (West) and the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division.
Thereby, the said dead body was recovered using safety ropes and other precautionary methods with the support of the Police and the civilians in the area. Commander 611 Infantry Brigade Closely supervised the evacuation operation.
