Due to heavy rain that has continued to fall all over the country, the Kalani River has overflowed after being released water into the canal from Ihala Bomiriya anicut, Ihala Bomiriya village is prone to flooding.
On information, the Army personnel belong to 2 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry of 144 Brigade of 14 Infantry Division under Security Forces (West) rushed to the venue on 6 September 2022 and began the work of placing sandbags on the 471 GS Division Ihala Bomiriya anicut to prevent the overflow of the Kalani River through Ihala Bomiriya Village to prevent the vulnerability.
As per the instructions given by the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer of 2 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry dispatched a team consisted with one Officer and 15 Other Ranks, for the urgent repairs.
