Troops of Security Forces (West) forwarded their hands to provide assistance to fuel distribution at Kolonnawa Installation in the evening hours onwards 28 March 2023, due to several sections of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation went on strike all over the country.
Thereby, a contingent of Army personnel from 20 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 144 Infantry Brigade of 14 Infantry Division along with their Quick Reaction Teams have been attached to the task and offered their manpower together with Police personnel in order to continue the fuel distribution at Kolonnawa installation.
Accordingly, troops contributed their assistance by providing security for the Kolonnawa installation and fuel distribution bowsers as well as covering various essential duties at the distribution location. Further, the intention of this task is to continue fuel distribution without any delay within the country.
Meanwhile, the Commander, 144 Infantry Brigade and respective Commanding Officers closely monitored the Army's involvement in this task as per the directions of the Commander, Security Forces (West) and the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division.
