WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN EXTINGUISHING A FIRE AT MEEGODA AREA

On the morning hours of 30 May 2023, a sudden fire erupted in a private furniture shop in the Meegoda area. The situation quickly escalated, and there was an urgent need for assistance to control the fire before it caused more damage to the surrounding areas.

Thereby, in response to this emergency need, as per the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West), a contingent of 20 Army personnel, including two officers belonging to 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, under 142 Infantry Brigade of the Security Forces (West) and a water bowser of Security Forces Headquarters (West), along with the Kotte Fire Brigade, quickly rushed to the location to assist in dousing the fire.

Meanwhile, a quick response from the Army personnel, along with the Kotte Fire Brigade, helped to bring the fire under control within a few hours. This timely intervention prevented the situation from escalating, and it also helped to prevent more damage to the surrounding areas. The Army personnel and Kotte Fire Brigade worked tirelessly to control the fire and ensure that it did not spread further.

The General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division, Commander 142 Infantry Brigade, and Commanding Officer of 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery closely monitored the Army's assistance. Further, the Army personnel's quick response to this emergency need is a testament to their dedication and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the civilians.
