The Wayamba Training Institute in collaboration with 1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops recently organized a workshop themed “Haritha Niyamuwo” (green pioneers), which was held at the Wayamba Training Institute premises in Wariyapola on 27 May 2023 with the participation of 70 students from Konwewa Maha Vidyalaya and R.G.Senanayaka Maha Vidyalaya (National School) in the Kurunegala District.
This workshop was designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful leaders in the field of green agriculture. The 1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops provided physical training instructors and conducted leadership sessions that included theoretical and practical group activities. These activities were essential for the students in order to develop their leadership skills and enhance their knowledge on green agriculture.
During the workshop, participants learned about various aspects of green agriculture, including food security, weather changes, manuring, watering, sunlight factors, global food safety programs, and more. The workshops were aimed at empowering young people to take charge of their future and become leaders in their communities.
The 1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops played an important role in the success of the workshop, closely monitoring the Army assistance by Commander 143 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard under the instructions of the Commander Security Forces (West). Further, the troops provided valuable guidance and support to the students, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge they need to become successful leaders in the field of green agriculture.
