On a directive given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defenec Staff and Commander of the Army, Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces -West during a visit he made to the area on Wednesday (23) inspected the hostels at Naiwala Advanced Technology Institute where 350 personnel, including expatriates can be quarantined against spread of COVID-19.
He met Officers and Other Ranks, engaged in the project and shared thoughts on the operational aspect and instructed accordingly before he left for the Bandaranayaka International Airport where troops are dedicatedly engaged in onward arrangements of all those expatriates/foreigners arriving here for quarantine procedures.
The Senior Officer after meeting a cross section of those airport-stationed troops inquired into their welfare needs and other related concerns while focusing on the smooth procedures, implemented for facilitation of those arrivals to specific QCs.
He also spoke to Brigadier Pradeep Gamage, Commander 141 Brigade and received a feedback in relation to the smooth function of the converted Naiwala Quarantine Centre and administration of the troops, engaged in airport duties.
