The New Year Festival at Viru Kekulu Pre-School Panagoda was joyfully celebrated on 08 April 2025, at the Sri Lanka Signal Corps Ground, Panagoda. The event was graced by Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), and his spouse, Mrs. Udari Anupama Gamage, Senior Lady In-Charge of Viru Kekulu Pre-School Panagoda.
The celebration was attended by 196 children, along with 15 teachers and 3 trainee teachers. The festival featured a lively array of performances and activities, including a captivating drama, traditional and modern dances, and various New Year games and special emphasis was placed on honoring the New Year rituals and customs, all of which were enthusiastically performed by the children of the pre-school. The event truly reflected the spirit of unity, tradition, and celebration, showcasing the creativity and joy of the young participants.
This meaningful occasion not only marked the festive start to the New Year but also strengthened the bonds between the children, teachers, families, and the military community, fostering collaboration through this CIMIC activity. At the end of the event, gifts were given to the children, adding an extra touch of joy and making the celebration even more memorable.
Several senior officers were present at the event, including the Logistics Commander SFHQ (West), Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Colonel General Staff, Colonel Administration and Quartering, and the Chief Coordinator Civil Affairs.
