The second phase of the “Samanola Siri – Haritha Wandana” 2025–2026 National Program commenced on 19 February 2026 near the Palabaddala access road to Sri Pada.
Implemented under the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative the program aims to safeguard the sacred environment of Sri Pada by maintaining it as a plastic and pollutant free sanctuary in keeping with its status as a revered place of worship. The initiative also focuses on improving essential facilities for pilgrims.
In support of this national effort and in accordance with the instructions of the Commander 572 Infantry Brigade a contingent of 50 troops (Comprising 02 officers and 48 other Ranks ) from the 11th Battalion The Gemunu Watch participated in the program and provided voluntary labour (Shramadana) assistance to ensure its successful implementation.
