TROOPS OF SF -WEST CONTINUE TO ASSIST CIVILIANS IN FLOOD –AFFECTED AREAS

While continuing flood relief effort, troops of SF – West continue to assist affected civilians in all possible means in liaison with respective government authorities in the area.

Troops of 2 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under command to 144 Infantry Brigade provided cooked breakfast and lunch packets for 2000 civilians affected by flood in Kaduwela and Kollonnawa on 7^th June with the assistance of government authorities of the area.

Meanwhile, Troops of 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry under command to 141 Infantry Brigade too provided Dry rations and over 1700 bottles of drinking water for affected civilians in Dompe on the same day.

All these assistance were done on the instructions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and with the supervision of Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander Security Forces – West.

Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, together with respective Brigade commanders and commanding officers continue with relief efforts and assistance.
