TROOPS READY ELPITIYA FACTORY BUILDING AS ONE MORE INTERMEDIATE CARE CENTRE

Troops of the 613 Brigade and the 14 (V) Gemunu Watch initiated a project to improvise a Factory Building at Elpitiya area to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) in the event of any surge of infectees of the virus.

As numbers of infectees are rising, the new ICC would be able to accommodate more than 400 COVID-19 infected ones. Its improvisation was carried out in coordination with health and local authorities as per guidelines given by Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces-West.

This conversion process started on the directions of the Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army with close cooperation and coordination of Major General Dammi Hewage, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division and Brigadier Upul Kodithuwakku, Commander, 613 Brigade HQ.
