In conjunction with the “Clean Sri Lanka” project and the government’s efforts to beautify and systematize the motherland, under the direct supervision of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General AHLG Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc and instructions of the Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu - General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, and under the supervision of the Commander 611 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment organized a tree planting program at 0900 hr on 30 January 2025 at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage premises in a grand manner.
Accordingly, they planted 500 saplings in a selected plot of land at the Elephant Orphanage. The District Secretary - Kegalle, DIG - Kegalle, AGA - Rambukkana, Deputy Director General of the Elephant Orphanage, and the District Forest Conservation Officer participated to this event. Furthermore, the Principal of Pinnawala Central College and a large number of students of the school and foreigners who came to visit the Elephant Orphanage on that occasion also participated in this effort.
