As per a concept of Commander of the Army, under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (West), 573 Infantry Brigade organized a Tourism Awareness Workshop on 29 October 2025 at Regimental Center SLLI Banquet hall Boossa.
The programme aimed to enhance coordination between the Sri Lanka Army and 63 tourism stakeholders in the Galle District, focusing on safety and emergency response for both local and foreign tourists.
A team from the 1 Commando Regiment led by Lt Col W W M C Bandara USP psc CR conducted lectures and demonstrations on emergency preparedness, coordination with local authorities and safety planning for tourist establishments.
The event was graced by the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division and was executed under the close supervision of Commander 573 Infantry Brigade along with Senior Officers, Officers and tourism representatives.
The workshop was also included with a certificate distribution, opening and closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation between the military and the tourism industry to strengthen national resilience and public confidence.
