A special Dengue prevention programme, organized by the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) on an initiative of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) got underway during 6-7 June covering Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kegalle and Ratnapura districts.
More than 500 Army personnel, including Officers, together with Policemen, Public Health Inspectors and respective local authorities in specific areas moved out accordingly to most congested areas in search of Dengue breeding spots and other vulnerable points.
Major General Ralph Nugera, General Officer Commanding, 14 Division and Major General Sudath Perera, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division took the lead in this regard.
