Parallel to the ongoing project 'Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak' conceptualized by the Commander of the Army, Saplings distribution programme got underway at SFHQ(West) premises on Thursday(11) June 2020 on the direction of Major General H J Senevirathna RWP RSP ndu Commander Security Forces (West).
Under this programme, 3000 Saplings of Coconut,Karadha, Mee, Margosa, Madan, Kumbuk, Kaya, Thelabu and Tamarind were distributed among formations of HQ SLAVF, SFHQ (West), 14 Div, 61 Div, RHQ SLSR, RHQ SLASC and SLRC. Chief Civil Coordinating Officer - SFHQ (West) Col N Mahavithana took the initiative in this regard.
A gathering of senior Officers including Brigadier D G Hewage RSP- Brigadier General Staff SF HQ (West), Brig T M Abeyrathna RSP - Brigadier Admin & Quartering SF HQ (West), Brigadier D M P D Dissanayake RWP - Centre Commandant - RHQ SLSR, Colonel M T K R Silva - Colonel Admin HQ SLAVF, Colonel E M G A Ambanpola - Centre Commandant RHQ SLASC, representative Senior Officers of 14 Division and 61 Division, SLRC, several officers and Other Ranks of SFHQ(West) were present at the occasion.
