Strengthening the government’s effort in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, Army’s Response had become the biggest ever homeland military operation in this crucial juncture, on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, with the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West), a mass vaccination programme with two vaccines including both 1st and 2nd doses of the AstraZeneca (Covishield) and the Sinopharm is being successfully conducted at the Panagoda Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army Temple) from 1st August 2021 onwards.
Subsequently, the vaccination center has administered around 58113 doses including 18271 doses of AstraZeneca (Covishield) and 39842 doses of Sinopharm vaccines have been vaccinated in the time period up to 09 August 2021, in line with the programme all the necessities were properly arranged to the better standard at the Army Temple where the vaccination is going on including the refreshments as per the direct supervision and instructions of the Commander SF – West. Army troops are rolling out their collective effort to facilitate a high standard of intimate service for the civilians.
Army medical teams, headed by Colonel (Dr) Saveen Semage, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services in the Army and all other staff have thrown their full weight to keep up the pace of the COVID – 19 vaccination process.
