To be in line with instructions given by General Shavendra Silva ,Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army , improvised ICCs were initiated within a few days under the close supervision of Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - west in order to provide a coordinated response to the 3rd wave of the COVID -19 pandemic and strengthening the capacity of the health care system by accommodating and isolating positive cases.
Currently SFHQ (West) is maintaining 26 ICCs and 58 QCs to strengthen the effort of containing the spread of ‘COVID-19’.Further certain QCs have been earmarked to convert as Intermediate Care Centres (ICCs) considering the urgent need with all emergency hospital facilities and a team of medical professionals.
