SECURITY FORCES (WEST) CONDUCTS A BRIEFING ON ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES IN THE WESTERN COASTAL BELT

In the present day context large scale of drug trafficking, weapons smuggling and other illegal activities are taking place along the Puttalam coastal belt in the 143 Infantry Brigade area operating under 14 Infantry Division in the Security Forces (West). In order to prevent such activities within the western coastal belt, with the instruction of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, organized a briefing on ‘Illegal activities which are being occurred in the western coastal belt’ at 143 Infantry Brigade on 22 November 2021.

The Chief Intelligent Officer (Western) of Sri Lanka Navy Lieutenant Commander H O A Hettiarachchi conducted the lecture including some salient aspects such as Maritime Zone, Maritime Threats, Drugs Trafficking Path/Trend, Contraband Smuggling, Launching Pattern, Human Smuggling Trend and Tactics at Sea and Hints for checking etc. The Officers who participated at the briefing got a thorrow knowledge on new trends of Drugs /Human/Contraband Smuggling.

The staff Officers of the 143 Infantry Brigade, 58 Infantry Division and the Officers of the Battalions under command to the 143 Infantry Brigade participated for the briefing and discussion.
