At present, the Sri Lanka Army is undertaking a great service to curb the spread of the current COVID 19 virus in the country and to prevent the virus from infecting the public.
On the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, with the supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West), organized 3 hour lecture and discussion session on awareness about ‘Mechanism of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID - 19 Outbreak’ was held on 29 November 2021 at National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID - 19 Outbreak, Rajagiriya.
The session was conducted by Brigadier coordinator Brigadier C P Arangalla psc and Professor in Medical Education Faculty of Medicine University of Sri Lanka Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake covering some salient aspects including strategical level of vaccination monitoring system and QC/ICC Monitoring system, coordination of preventive and management measures to ensure that healthcare and other services are well geared to serve the general public, Presidential Task Force which has been established to ‘ Direct, coordinate and monitor the delivery of continuous services and for the sustenance of overall community life’ etc.
The Commander Security Forces (West) Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division Major General A K G K U Gnanarathne ndu psc , senior officers, officers and several Regimental Sergeant Majors belong to the Security Forces (West) participated at the lecture and discussion.
