On the Directions of the Commander security forces (West) Major General KWR de Abrew RSP RSP USP psc Hdmc , SFHQ (West) marked Sri Lanka’s 73rd independence day on Wednesday (4) to commemorate the independence with patriotism and sovereignty. The day’s programme began with hoisting of the national flag by Brigadier (Admin and Quartering) Brigadier T M Abeyrathne RSP Lsc, and the national anthem was sung at 0800 hrs. Two minutes silence was also observed to pay tribute to the forefathers of the land of their glorious feat.
Afterwards, Speech of the commander of the Army was read by Maj MUK Hewabodarage, So 2 Log (Supply and Maintenance ) followed by the speech of Brigadier Mahesh Abeyrathne in which he highlighted the significance of the day.
The next phase of the day’s agenda was tree planting and many saplings were planted with in the cantonment.
Then, All Officers and Other Ranks of the SF – West Witnessed the live telecast of independence day speech of HE the president and the Parade, at the Gymnasium of the Army Physical training school - Panagoda.
Parallel to the National ceremony and the SF – West Independence Day calibrations, under command Divisions, Brigades and Battalions too conducted similar programme in their respective Headquarters.
