Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage, Overall Operations Commander (Western Province and Puttalam District) and the Commander – SFHQ (West), visited Negombo on 06th and 07th May 2019.
On 06th May 2019, he accompanied His Eminence Malcom Cardinal Ranjith, the Arch Bishop of Colombo and the President of the All Ceylon Jammiyathula Ulama, Mufthi MIM Rizwie and visited both Catholic and Muslim communities along with all relevant ground commanders where discussions were held to foster inter-communal harmony.
On 7th May 2019, the OOC met all operational and tactical level commanders and troops on ground to discuss the situation and issued instructions on the ongoing operations. Maj Gen Liyanage also met religious and community leaders and assured that the security has been restored in the area.
