NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PREVENTION PROGRAM

On July 9, 2025, a health promotion program titled ‘Reducing Non-Communicable Diseases’ was held at the Army Physical Training School Indoor Stadium. The event was conducted under the guidance of Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc Commander of Security Forces (West).

The program was led by senior officers, including Brigadier (Dr) Maureen Wijewardane (Rtd) USP MBBS MRCP (UK) FRCP (UK) a Consultant Physician and Senior Coordinating Officer at the Army Hospital Colombo “Healthy Army, Healthy Nation” Coordination Office, Brigadier R M M Monaragala USP Director of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services, and Major A S K Udugama, a Nutrition Officer at the Army Hospital Colombo.

The programme focused on promoting healthy lifestyle practices, managing mental stress, adopting balanced eating habits to increase lifespan, and understanding the role of proper nutrition for a long, healthy life.

A total of 43 officers and 770 other ranks including senior officers from the Security Forces (West), directorates, regimental centers, and from the under-command units, participated in the event.
