NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, assumed office as the 18th Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West) on 15th February 2025.The newly appointed Commander Security Forces (West) was awarded with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of the 6th Battalion Gajaba Regiment soon after his arrival at the premises, in accordance with military traditions.

After the formal military honours, Major General U K D D P Udugama, auspiciously took over duties amidst religious observances and placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office. Thereafter, the new West Commander planted a sapling to mark the assumption of duties and posed for a group photograph. Afterwards, the Major General U K D D P Udugama was invited for an All Ranks Tea.

After the formalities, Major General U K D D P Udugama, addressed the troops, emphasizingA the importance of the training, discipline and its integral role in achieving success. He shared his vision for the command and outlined his goals, inspiring the troops to work towards common objectives. Afterwards, a comprehensive briefing was conducted by the Staff Officers at the conference hall of the Security Forces Headquarters (West).

The General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, the Logistic Commander SFHQ (West), the General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division, Brigadier General staff, Brigadier Admin & Quartering, Brigade Commanders, Centre Commandants, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ (West) participated in the day’s ceremony.
