MAJOR GENERAL U K D D P UDUGAMA RWP RSP USP ndc psc, VISITS 573 & 613 INFANTRY BRIGADES

The Commander Security Forces (West), Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, made his maiden visit to the 573 & 613 Infantry Brigades and under command battalions on 01st March 2025.

In line with the itinerary, the Commander Security Forces (West) commenced his visit arriving at 573 Infantry Brigade, where he was honoured with a guard turnout. On the arrival at the brigade headquarters, Major General U K D D P Udugama was warmly welcomed by General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, together with the Commander 573 Infantry Brigade. Following the initial military formalities, the Commander Security Forces (West) planted a sapling and posed for a group photograph. A comprehensive briefing on the role, tasks and the progress of the constructions was later conducted by the Commander, 573 Infantry Brigade and Major General U K D D P Udugama visited the brigade headquarters premises.

After that Commander visited 20th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, there he was honoured with a drive pass and visited the camp premises to witness the present condition of the facilities available at the battalion.

Afterwards Commander SF (West) visited 613 Infantry Brigade and honoured with a drive pass. A comprehensive briefing was done by the Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade on the operational role, responsibilities, and current situation within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility. After the briefing Major General U K D D P Udugama visited the brigade headquarters area.

Thereafter, the Commander SF (West) conducted a visit to 09th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and he was honoured with a drive pass. Later, the Commander SF (West) made a special remark in the Visitors’ Book of the battalion. Afterwards, Major General U K D D P Udugama visited the 3rd (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch and he remembered to place an admiring note in the Visitors’ Book of the battalion as well. Meanwhile Commander visited the lime stone project area at Midiagama to witness the current engagement of the West troops for that project.

The General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier General Staff - SFHQ (West), Brigade Commanders, Brigadier Coord (Vol) - SFHQ (West) and Staff Officers accompanied the Commander SF (West) during these visits.
