Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West) conducted an official visit to the 61 Infantry Division on Monday, 3rd February.
Upon arrival, the Commander of Security Forces (West) was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout and warmly welcomed by Major General K T P De Silva RSP ndu psc, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 61 Infantry Division.
Following the formalities, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed the troops, emphasizing the importance of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative and the role of each Army personnel in achieving this national objective. He also stressed the need to uphold the dignity of the Army through self-discipline and by maintaining physical and mental well-being.
As a symbolic gesture, the Commander planted a sapling within the camp premises and participated in a group photograph. He then visited key facilities, including the Sergeant’s Mess and the Medical Section, to inspect the infrastructure.
During his address to all the officers of the division and its under-command battalions, Major General Lanka Amarapala highlighted the relevance of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative to military personnel. He underlined the importance of self-respect, national security responsibilities, safeguarding and conducting regular interviews for subordinates, and fostering camaraderie among all ranks.
Subsequently, Major General Lanka Amarapala visited the 2nd (Volunteer) Battalion of the Gemunu Watch, where he was received with a warm welcome by Major S M L L De Silva, the Commanding Officer. To commemorate his visit, he signed the Visitor’s Book.
