MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc, VISITS 57 INFANTRY DIVISION

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), made an official visit to the 57 Infantry Division on 5th February.

Upon his arrival, he was honored with a ceremonial drive-past and warmly welcomed by Major General W M P M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of the 57 Infantry Division, along with Brigadier A M A Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP ndc, Deputy General Officer Commanding. Following the formal welcome, Major General Lanka Amarapala posed for a group photograph with the officers and troops, marking the occasion.

During his visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed the troops, emphasizing the importance of discipline and the need to avoid any involvement in illegal activities. He urged all personnel to ensure proper coordination with law enforcement authorities and reiterated the military's responsibility in contributing to national programs such as the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative. He highlighted the critical role of the military in supporting environmental conservation and achieving the nation’s sustainability goals. Additionally, he stressed the importance of national security, as well as the mental and physical fitness of soldiers, as essential pillars for their service. The troop address was attended by 24 officers and 176 other ranks.

Later, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed to all officer in the 57 Division and under command battalions, where he underscored the significance of upholding the Army's dignity through self-discipline and integrity, both in their professional and personal lives. He encouraged the officers to adapt to changing societal trends while maintaining unwavering dedication to their duties. The Commander also reiterated the importance of the Army’s contribution to national development initiatives, particularly the “Clean Sri Lanka” program, and called for their active participation in achieving this shared goal.

The visit concluded with Major General Lanka Amarapala signing the Visitors’ Book, leaving a record of appreciation for the efforts of the 57 Infantry Division. Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces (West), Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officer, Senior Officers and Officers attended the event.

This visit reaffirmed Commander Security Forces (West), commitment to fostering professionalism, discipline, and integrity among the troops, while also highlighting the military’s vital role in national development and environmental conservation.
