MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc GRACES “WATJAREE 2024’’ AS THE CHIEF GUEST

Representing the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc graced the “Watjaree 2024” as the chief guest, on Tuesday (17th).

The 31st Watjaree scouting rally- 2024 for the Wattala/Ja-Ela district took place at the Batuwatta Maha Vidyalaya- Ragama from 15th September to 17th September and Major General Lanka Amarapala graced the closing ceremony of “Watjaree 2024” as the chief guest. Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scouting Association; Air Marshal Andrew Wijesuriya (Retired), together with the District Commissioner of the Wattala/Ja-Ela Scouting Association, Mr. Duminda Senevirathne. Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces (West) was customarily escorted having accorded a unique wand guard salute by the scouts.

Having hoisted the flags, the Commander Security Forces (West) addressed all scouts emphasizing the historical significance and main objective of the scouting camp. In his address, he underscored the importance of enhancing the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual capabilities of the scouts that lead to develop a responsible citizen. He further highlighted the importance of mental and physical development, the values of citizenship and extended his best wishes for their future success.

Afterwards, Major General Lanka Amarapala presented the awards to the scouts for their performances at “Watjaree 2024”. Dharmaloka Vidyalaya - Kelaniya scouts won the championship award and De Mazenod College - Kandana scouts won the runners up award in “Watjaree 2024”.Thearafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the camp site and posed for group photographs with scouts making their rally more memorable.

The Commander 141 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier R R de S Dharmawickrema RSP , the Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scouting Association, Air Marshal Andrew Wijesuriya (Retired), the Executive Chairman of the Wattala/Ja-Ela Scouting Association and the Deputy Chairman of the Sri Lanka Scouting Association, Rev. K H K Perera, the Chairman of Wattala/Ja-Ela Scouting Association, Dr. Pathiraja Perera, the District Commissioner of the Wattala/Ja-Ela Scouting Association, Mr. Duminda Senevirathne, also participated in the closing ceremony of “Watjaree 2024”.
