Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), delivered an inspiring address to the troops of the 14 Infantry Division at the Regimental Headquarters of the Corps of Engineer Services on 7th February. He was warmly welcomed by Major General KJNMPK Nawarathna RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division.
During his address, Major General Lanka Amarapala highlighted the significance of the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative launched by His Excellency the President. He emphasized the critical role of military personnel in supporting this national endeavor, both as disciplined soldiers and responsible citizens. He further explained that the initiative extends beyond environmental cleanliness to fostering spiritual growth and cultivating ethical and moral values among individuals. The Commander Security Forces (West) also underscored the importance of maintaining the Army's distinguished reputation as a victorious Army. He shared examples of disciplinary challenges, such as substance abuse and other breaches, which have tarnished the institution's legacy in isolated instances. He urged the troops to uphold the Army's traditions and ensure their conduct reflects the highest standards of discipline and honor.
After the troops address, the Commander Security Forces (West) addressed the Officers of 14 infantry Division and under command Battalions, focusing welfare of subordinates, discipline, mental and physical well-being, integrity, and the enduring standards of the noble profession. He reiterated the importance of safeguarding national security while contributing to the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative. Reflecting on the theme of the recent Independence Day celebration, "Let’s Join the National Renaissance," he called upon military leaders to lead by example and provide unwavering support to this initiative.
Afterward, the Commander participated in an All-Ranks tea where he interacted with the troops. The event concluded with Major General Lanka Amarapala signing the Visitors’ Book, leaving a record of appreciation for the efforts of the 14 Infantry Division. The event was attended by the Brigadier General Staff (SFHQ-West), the Brigadier Admin and Quartering (SFHQ-West), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers, and Other Ranks of the 14 Infantry Division.
