Major General K T P de Silva RSP ndu psc officially assumed duties as the 19th Commander of Security Forces (West) on 04 April 2026 following military protocols.
Newly appointed Commander was received with a formal Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC). Following these traditional military honours, Major General K T P de Silva participated in religious observances to invoke blessings for his new appointment before placing his signature for the official assumption of duties. To commemorate the occasion, the Commander planted a sapling at headquarters premises followed by a formal group photograph and a traditional all ranks tea.
During his address, Commander SF (West) emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and maintain high degree of discipline among officers and soldiers. Furthermore, he articulated the Army’s role and tasks in relation to national initiatives, highlighting the "Clean Sri Lanka" and "Ratama Ekata" projects.
The event was attended by a distinguished assembly of senior leadership, including the Deputy Commander SF (West), General Officer Commandings of 14, 16 and 57 Infantry Divisions, Brigadier General Staff SFHQ (West) and Logistic Commander SFHQ (West). The presence of senior officers from the SLASC and various under-command establishments further signified the unified support for the new commander as he embarks on his tenure to uphold the security and integrity of the area of responsibility.
