As part of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative, which aligns with the concept of a Clean Country under the vision of Beautiful Island, Smiling People, a beach cleaning program was conducted in the Kandakuliya Beach area of the Kalpitiya Provincial Council in conjunction with Sri Lanka 77th Independence Day celebrations.
The program was carried out under the direction of Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander - Security Forces (West), and the guidance of Major General W M P M Wijesuriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division. Brigadier K A T P Wimalasena RWP RSP, the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, led the execution of the initiative with the participation of the Commanding Officer 16th Battalion Gajaba Regiment and the Commanding Officer 7th (V) Battalion Gajaba Regiment. A total of 200 troops took part in the cleanup program on 02nd February 2025.
Furthermore, the program was successfully carried out with the participation of Government Officials from the Provincial Council, Kalpitiya and the Provincial Secretariat, Kalpitiya, religious leaders, and local civilians, who contributed to making this initiative a success.
