The thrilling six-a-side Army cricket tournament with 23 teams under categories \'A\' and \'B\' began this morning (10) at the Free Trade Zone Grounds in Koggala with attendance of Major General Ubaya Medawala, Chairman, Army Cricket Committee and several other senior officers.
In this open tournament, 16 Army teams under category \'A\' and 7 teams under category \'B\', representing all the units of the Army as well as 6 civil cricket clubs, including a cricket club from the Jaffna peninsula, are now set to compete with one another and clinch the championship trophy.
The final encounter will take place on Sunday (12) in the presence of a gathering of senior officers, drawn from Colombo.
