GOC 61 INFANTRY DIVISION VISITS 573 INFANTRY BRIGADE AND ITS UNDER COMMAND BATTALIONS

The General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, Major General W S V Fernando USP ndc IG, undertook an official visit to the Headquarters 573 Infantry Brigade and its under command Battalions on 14 July 2025.

Upon the arrival, GOC was warmly welcomed by Brigade Commander, 573 Infantry Brigade, at the main entrance and accorded a Guard Turnout as part of the military traditions.

Thereafter, GOC planted a sapling at the camp premises symbolizing growth and sustainability and that was followed by Brigade Commander’s briefing and troop address by the GOC.

Subsequently, GOC visited Disaster Response Centre at Neluwa Divisional Secretariat, 20 SLLI Company deployments in Pitigala, 2 (V) GW Company deployment in Walahanduwa and finally, the Headquarter of the 2 (V) GW located at Galle Fort.

At the end of the day’s itinerary, GOC recorded his remarks at the visitors' book, expressing his appreciation for the steadfast commitment demonstrated by the Brigade Commander and all ranks in maintaining high standards of professionalism.
