GOC 61 INFANTRY DIVISION OFFICIALLY VISITED HEADQUARTERS 572 INFANTRY BRIGADE

The General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, Major General W S V Fernando USP ndc IG, undertook an official visit to the Headquarters of the 572 Infantry Brigade on 03rd June 2025.

Upon his arrival, the GOC was warmly welcomed by the Brigade Commander, 572 Infantry Brigade, at the main entrance. A ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented in his honor, marking the occasion with military decorum and tradition.

As part of the itinerary, the GOC ceremonially planted a sapling, symbolizing growth and sustainability. A group photograph was taken to marked the visit. Following this, the Brigade Commander delivered a comprehensive briefing covering operational and administrative aspects of the formation.

Major General WSV Fernando USP ndc IG then toured the camp premises, inspecting key facilities and engaging with personnel. He subsequently addressed the troops of the 572 Infantry Brigade, commending their dedication, discipline, and contributions to the division's mission.

During the visit, the GOC also visited Bravo Company of the 18 SLNG located at Bambaragasthenna.

Concluding the visit, GOC recorded his remarks in the visitors' book, expressing his appreciation for the steadfast commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the Brigade Commander and all ranks in maintaining high standards within the headquarters.
