The General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier KTP De Silva RSP ndu psc, conducted his maiden official visit to the 572 Infantry Brigade on 20th & 21st October 2024.
The visit commenced with the inspection to the construction site of the proposed Brigade Headquarters of 572 Infantry Brigade at Bambaragastenna. Upon arrival to the Tactical Headquarters of 572 Infantry Brigade Kapugala, the General Officer Commanding was customarily accorded with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance and warmly welcomed by Colonel A P A D D Dharmakeerthi RWP RSP USP psc ptsc, the Commander of 572 Infantry Brigade.
Afterwards, General Officer Commanding witnessed a comprehensive briefing of the Commander of the 572 Infantry Brigade on the task and role of the Infantry Brigade. Subsequently, he conducted an inspection to the Guard Room, Armory, Accommodation area and other installations of the camp premises, followed by a field visit to Kuragala ancient Buddhist monastery. During the course of his visit, General Officer Commanding addressed the troops of the 572 Infantry Brigade and 8 Gemunu Watch (8GW) at Regimental Centre GW, Kuruvita and closely observed the Battalion’s readiness for the search and disaster relief operation and its equipment.
During the General Officer Commanding’s two day’s visit, on 21 October 2024, he visited the Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) base workshop, Udawalawa, Sri Lanka School of Military Engineers (SLSME), Thunkama and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Trade School, Kuttigla, the military establishments in the area of Division’s responsibility which play an effective role during the emergency operational situations .In addition, the Embilipitiya President’s House was also visited during his visit. The visit was attended by the Commander of 572 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Commanding Officer of 8 GW, Officers, and Other Ranks.
