Brigadier J M R N K Jayamanna RWP made his first official visit to the 144 Infantry Brigade on 19 August 2022 after assuming duties as the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division.
The General Officer Commanding initially arrived at the Headquarters of 144 Infantry Brigade, and he was warmly welcomed by Brigadier K M V Kodithuwakku, Commander of 144 Infantry Brigade conformity with military traditions. Thereby, the commander of the 144 Infantry Brigade introduced the staff officers of the 144 Infantry Brigade and afterward, the General Officer Commanding attended a comprehensive briefing that described the respective AOR by the commander of 144 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer 2 (v) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry and Commanding Officer of 10 Sri Lanka National Guard.
As per the day’s itinerary, the General Officer Commanding has visited 2 (v) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry located at Kelanimulla and thereby, he was received by the Commanding Officer 2 (v) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry at the Battalion Headquarters. Then, the General Officer Commanding planted a Sandalwood sapling at the camp premises of 2 (v) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry to mark his visit. Thereafter the General Officer Commanding addressed the troops of 144 Infantry Brigade and he appreciated the commitment of troops who rendered their potential service in this present scenario and directed respective officers to render their invaluable service in the future too.
