The customary Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations at the SFHQ (West) in the wake of the dawn of the New Year got underway Tuesday (16) morning with the participation of Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces (West) as the Chief Guest.
The inauguration of the day’s event began with a tree planting by the Commander Security Forces (West).
The new year message of the commander of the Army was read out by Maj D S S Ladduwahetti RSP GW – SO 2 (A) SFHQ (West) and Partaking of the customary Tea Table, filled with typical New Year Food varieties and other sweetmeats, began afterwards.
Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces (West) during refreshments took time off to speak to All Rankers present at the event and also shared a couple of words with them.
