COMMENCEMENT OF THE FIRST WORKING DAY FOR 2025 AT SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (WEST)

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander of the Security Forces (West), presided over the ceremony marking the commencement of the first working day of the year at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) on 1. January 2025.

The day's proceedings began with a flag-hoisting ceremony, during which Major General Lanka Amarapala raised the National Flag. This was followed by the playing of the National Anthem and the Army Song. Ina solemn gesture of respect, a two-minute silence was observed to honor the fallen war heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.

Following the formalities, all personnel took the oath associated with the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative. The New Year message for 2025, issued by the Commander of the Army, was then presented to all ranks. The message conveyed best wishes for the New Year and underscored the importance of a disciplined Army, free from substance abuse, as well as the critical role of the "Clean Sri Lanka" concept.

The event proceeded with a traditional All Ranks Tea, providing an opportunity for camaraderie and engage in discussions with all ranks. During this session, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed the troops, extending his New Year wishes and expressing gratitude for their dedication and service to the nation. He also reiterated the importance of upholding the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, emphasizing the responsibility of Army personnel in ensuring its success. He highlighted the concept's focus on fostering positive attitude changes, improving procedures, ensuring error-free procurement practices, and eliminating financial discrepancies. Additionally, Major General Lanka Amarapala encouraged all personnel to actively support the Army Commander's efforts in advancing both the development of the Army and the professional growth of its human resources.

The event was attended by senior officers, including the Project Officer, Logistics Commander, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin & Quartering, Brigadier Coordination (Volunteer Matters), as well as all ranks of the Security Forces (West).
