COMMANDER SF (WEST) MAKES A COURTESY VISIT TO 611 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Force Headquarters (West) paid a visit to 611 Infantry Brigade on 20 July 2021 and the Commander 611 Infantry Brigade, Brig LAJLB Udowita RWP RSP warmly welcomed the Commander SF (West) at the entrance of the Brigade Headquarter.

During the visit, Commanding Officers of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 8 Gamunu Watch and the Brigade Major of 611 Infantry Brigade made comprehensive briefings on the security, contingencies, involvement of the army to control Covid - 19 in the area and other admin matters of the area at the Brigade Headquarters respectively. Commander Security Forces (West) was then invited to plant a sapling to mark his first official visit to the Brigade and subsequently took time off to address SNCOs serving at the Brigade Headquarters.

During the discussion with Senior non-commissioned officers, Commander SF - West emphasized on Mission command, dedication of responsibilities, Self discipline, Insisting battle procedure, Welfare of soldiers and commitment of SNCOs.

As per the day’s itinerary, Commander Security Forces (West) visited the Intermediate Care Center located in the Ayurweda Hospital – Kegalle which can accommodate 300 patients at any time. Then, he visited the Advanced Technological Institution - Kegalle which is being used as a Quarantine Center. Further, Comd SF (West) appreciated the staff who rendered their remarkable service in this crucial juncture and instructed to uplift the standard of the facilities.

Subsequently, Comd SF (West) inspected the Intermediate Care Center located at Brandix -Rambukkana. During a brief discussion with the staff of the ICC, he directed them towards providing cordial and hospitality focused service to strengthen the government’s effort.

Later on, As per the directions of the Commander of the Army, on maintaining a close coordination and a good rapport with Government officials in the area, Commander SF (west) had a cordial discussion with several senior Government officials at 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment in Kegalle.

District Secretariat - Kegalle District Mr. Mahinda S Weerasooriya, Divisional Secretariat - Mawanella Mrs. Wijayani Rathnasekara, Divisional Secretariat - Kegalle Mr. KGS Nishantha, Director Health Services - Kegalle Dr. Kumar Wicramasinghe, Director Zonal Education - Kegalle Mrs. Darshani Iddamalgoda , Director - District Hospital - Kegalle Dr. Mihiri Priyangani , Chief Engineer (RDA) - Kegalle Mr. Buddhika Bandara and District Coordinator Disaster Management Center - Kegalle Mr. Chamila Banadra joined the discussion. During the discussion, those officials greatly appreciated the effort of the Army in controlling Covid - 19 and excellent coordination with other Government agencies.

Before the departure Commander inspected the progress of the organic fertilizer project operational as a combined project of 611 Inf Bde and 8 SLSR and appreciated the progress of the project. He Further did not forget to add a complimentary remark in the Visitors’ Book of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment before leaving the camp premises.

General Officer Commanding 61 Inf Division Maj Gen D G Hewage RSP, Col (Coord) Col K G K Ariyadasa RWP RSP GR, GSO 1 (Ops) Lt Col C D Welagedara USP IG SLA, SO I (A) Lt Col B K A P Dareeju SLAC and several Senior Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (West) accompanied the Commander during the visit.
