The Commander of the Army and several Senior Officers customarily visited inmates at Army Wellness Resorts concurrently with the celebration of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival on 24 April 2023.
Accordingly, as per the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, paid a visit to the Ragama Ranaviru Sevana in the morning hours on 24 April 2023, where a total of 57 Army personnel are recuperating after injuries and under rehabilitation as residential inmates.
The visiting commander was warmly welcomed to the Ranaviru Sevana by a wheelchair-borne inmate offering a sheaf of betel, together with Brigadier B N Madanayake RWP RSP, the Commandant of the Ranaviru Sevana, Ragama.
Afterward, West Commander Close interacted with dependent inmates, exchanged a couple of thoughts and wished them a fast recovery. At the same time, the visiting commander gave away New Year’s gift packs dispatched by the Commander of the Army after talking to each inmate residing in all four wards and wishing them success in their future endeavors.
Moreover, at the culmination of the day’s programme, the Commander Security Forces (West) wrote a complimentary remark in the ‘Visitors Book and talked to all the officers serving at the Ranaviru Sevana before his exit from the venue.
Major General J A R S K Jayasekara USP psc, Director General, Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Brigadier L G P D V Kariyawasam RWP RSP USP, Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade and several Senior Officers from Army Headquarters also accompanied the event.
