Commander Security Forces (West) Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP paid an official visit to 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka light infantry and 144 Infantry Brigade on 26 and 27 May 2022 respectively.
On 26 May 2022, the Commander Security Forces (West) arrived at the Headquarters of 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry which is located at Delgoda and the Commander was received by Major General G G A S Wickramasena RWP RSP USP psc Hdmc, the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division along with Brigadier S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP, the Commander of 141 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light infantry with military traditions. Afterwards, the Commander, Security Forces (West), General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division, Commander 141 Infantry Brigade and sector Commanders belong to 141 Infantry Brigade attended for a comprehensive briefing that described the respective AOR by the Commanding Officer of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
After the briefing, the Commander Security Forces (West) inspected several key places of the camp besides the welfare of the soldiers. Moreover, during the inspection, the commander has given needy instructions to the respective officers in order to uplift the welfare and the standard of the camp. In addition to that, the Commander instructed those who participated in the visit, the way they handle the situations of the present scenario in their own AOR.
Thereafter, the commander was invited to plant a sapling in the camp premises to mark his visit and thereby, he did not forget to pen a complimentary remark in the ‘Visitors book’ before departure from 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Headquarters.
Brigadier General Staff Brigadier K W S Perera RWP and Lt Col M A S Jayarathna RSP Colonel Admin and Quartering Security Forces Headquarters (West) also accompanied the Commander during the first day of the visit.
The second day of the visit (27), the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the 144 Infantry Brigade - Akuregoda and 2 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry located at Kalanimulla.
Initially, the Commander has visited the 144 Infantry Brigade Headquarters located at Akuregoda and upon his arrival at 144 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the Commander, Security Forces (West) was warmly welcomed with a drive pass by the Major General G G A S Wickramasena RWP RSP USP psc Hdmc, General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division along with Commander 144 Infantry Brigade Brigadier K M V Kodithuwakku. Then, with the participation of the Sector Commanders under 144 Infantry Brigade and Staff Officers of 144 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the Commander of 144 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officers under 144 Infantry Brigade presented their briefing including role and tasks of 144 Infantry Brigade AOR to the West Commander.
Finally, marking the end of the two - day visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the 2 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry located at Kalanimulla. Thereby, the Commander Security Forces (West) was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer to the 2 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Headquarters in keeping with military traditions.
Then, the Commander Security Forces (West) was invited to plant a sapling to mark his first official visit to the Battalion and subsequently the Commander took time off to address the troops serving in the 144 Infantry Brigade. Moreover, during the troops address, the Commander Security Forces (West) emphasized on Mission command, the dedication of responsibilities, Self-discipline, Insisting on battle procedures, and the welfare of soldiers. Before departure from the 2 (V) battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry Headquarters premises, west commander inspected several key places which are located in the Battalion Headquarters premises.
General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division Major General G G A S Wickramasena RWP RSP USP psc Hdmc, Brigadier General Staff Brigadier K W S Perera RWP, Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier G D R U Galhenage of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) and a few senior officers of 14 Infantry Division participated with the west Commander During the 2nd day of the visit.
