COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) UNDERTAKES A FIELD VISIT TO 57 INFANTRY DIVISION

Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), undertook a significant field visit to 57 Infantry Division—Pangolla on 13 August 2024 and Brigadier General Staff and Brigadier Admin and Quartering accompanied the Commander during the visit. According to the instructions of Army Headquarters, the division was placed under command to Security Forces (West) on 12 August 2024. The importance of this visit cannot be overstated, as it signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the division.

The General Officer Commanding the 57 Infantry Division, Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, and Division Staff warmly welcomed the visiting Commander to the 57 Infantry Division premises. Then, the General Officer Commanding briefed the, progress of the re-deployment plan of the 57 Infantry Division which took the responsibilities of the North Western province and Kegalle Distric. Further he highlighted the progress of the constructions of the infrastructure facilities of the Division Headquarters.

During the visit, he paid close attention to several key factors that would impact the success of the 57 Infantry Division's re-deployment. Specifically, he was keenly interested in the existing structures and facilities at the location, including the administrative buildings and accommodation facilities. He also evaluated the area's accessibility and security. In addition, he passed down the necessary instructions to the responsible officers on the continuation of the construction of the 57 Infantry Division Headquraters.

Major General WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division, Brigadier BPGK Balasooriya RSP psc Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier AMA Abeyawardana WWV RWP RSP psc the Deputy General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, Colonel SDNC De Silva Brigadier Admin and Quartering Security Forces Headquarters (West), and Senior Officers all stood united and in collaboration during the West Commander's visit. This sense of camaraderie and shared mission was palpable throughout the visit.
