Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), leda housewarming ceremony on December 10, marking the official handover of a newly constructed house to Mr. K.D. Abeywickrama and his family in Labunoruwa, Maradankadawala.
The project, undertaken as part of the Sri Lanka Army's 75th anniversary celebrations, wasinitiated under the conceptual guidance of Lieutenant General H.L.V.M. Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army. Major General Lanka Amarapala oversaw the construction, monitored by the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and the Commander of the 142 Infantry Brigade.
Troops from the 6th Battalion Gajaba Regiment volunteered their time and technical expertise to complete the project efficiently and with high quality. Generous contributions from localdonors provided the financial and material support necessary for the house's construction.
The housewarming ceremony featured traditional religious observances and blessings,symbolizing the Army's dedication to fostering strong ties with the public. Major General Lanka Amarapala commended the dedication and hard work of the construction team, while Mr. K.D. Abeywickrama expressed heartfelt gratitude for the life-changing support.
The ceremony was attended by Brigadier G A T Godewatte RWP RSP, the Centre Commandant Gajaba Regiment, Brigadier D S S Radalage RWP RSP, the Commander 142 Infantry Brigade, Brig B A M P Balasuriya RSP the Commander 212 Infantry Brigade and Major D S Handunge, the Commanding Officer 6th Battalion Gajaba Regiment, Mr. H A Sanjeewa, the Principal Labunoruwa Central College. In addition, Senior Officers, Government Officials, donors, and family members of the beneficiaries were present, reflecting the spirit of community support and collaboration that brought the project to fruition.
