Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, Commander Security Forces (West), made a Two-day field visit covering 61 Infantry Division Headquarters , 613 Infantry Brigade and their under command Battalions on the first day and 612 Infantry Brigade and their under command Battalions for the second day from 17 to 18 August 2022 respectively.
Subsequently, the visiting Commander who was followed by a drive pass, was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders of 613 and 612 Infantry Brigades and Commanding Officers under 613 and 612 Infantry Brigades at their esteemed locations. Thereby, comprehensive briefings on role and tasks and the present situation of the respective AOR were done by General Officer Commanding and also Brigade Commanders of respective Brigades with the participation of their Commanding Officers. Meanwhile, the Commander Security Forces (West) was invited to plant saplings in the respective camps’ premises to mark his arrival.
Addressing the troops during this two-day visit, the West Commander emphasized the importance of the discipline of the soldiers, man management, how to perform duties in this tense situation, the right way to use social media, prevention of vehicle accidents and the Security of the camps. As well as he appreciated the commitment of troops who rendered their potential service in the past and present scenarios.
Specialy, during the visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the surrounding of camps’ premises and the welfare of the soldiers. Moreover, he inspected several key places including armories, ration stores, and kitchen premises inside the camps. Further, the West Commander didn’t forget to have a cordial discussion with the Officers and Other Ranks and along the way, the west Commander also instructed the respective Officers on how to maintain the camp developing and expand infrastructure facilities.
In addition to the visit, the West Commander inspected, several locations for the proposed deployment of Security Forces (West) AOR, along with General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers of respective areas.
The General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General W R M M Rathnayaka RWP RSP USP ndu, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Adming and Quartering, Brigadier (Coord) of Security Forces (West) and several Staff Officers of 61 Infantry Division accompanied the West Commander during the visit.
